Agree with most of what you're saying. I've owned a Suzuki DR650 since 1992 (1991 model) and love it. Not the most comfortable thing but after a few mods, it's a great bike. Kick start only, carb, can't get more simple. Bought a 2010 BMW R1200GS in 2017, nice bike but someone decided I didn't deserve it and turned left in front of me, trashing the bike, and some bits of me. After a couple of years of healing, I bought a used KTM 1290 Super Adventure R. Wow, amazing bike! Crazy powerful motor, lots of fun. Off road 'though, quite a handful. Sold it at the end of 2022. As much as I liked it, it was too powerful, and since I usually ride alone, the fact I couldn't lift it was a problem. Next up was a brand new KTM 890 Adventure. This one is perfect so far. Reasonable weight and enough power to have fun. You're right about all the bells and whistles, I have everything turned off except the front ABS. I've been riding since 1972, and that included a few years of trials riding, so I know how to actually ride. I don't need too much fancy crap. So, why buy the 890 instead of something older? I wanted around 100hp and maybe mid-400 pounds. The 890 fit the bill. And then, I did something really nuts, and bought a 2006 Harley V-Rod. VRSCR Street Rod. Great for the poser runs, and it's a fun bike really.

If you think that the east feels different from the west now you should have experienced it while the ‘wall’ was still up and just after it came down. I visited East Berlin twice passing through Checkpoint Charlie both times. I also travelled down the corridor from Helmstadt to West Berlin. Now those visits really were something special. Very soon after the wall came down I visited Eisenach and it was defined by two smells, woodsmoke and 2 stroke oil. I visited Colditz while the Schloss was still a mental hospital and re-visited Berlin when the wall was down but the Russian troops were still around. Those trips will remain vivid memories for ever. The differences are much more subtle now and a non German, non German speaker might be totally unaware of them.

hi, I see you've put K60 Scout 110/80/18 on front and 140/80/18 on the rear. Any issues with fitting those sizes? Did you have to change tubes as well?

The steepness isn't captured well by cameras. You can see it a bit by looking at the trees

I have a used single cylinder f650gs. I rode it from where I live in Michigan to where my dad lives in Texas. Its about 1500 miles, or 2400 km. It was a comfortable ride and the bike never skipped a beat. Just this week I explored some trails near my house and the bike did great. It probably would have been better on a 250cc dirtbike, but I could never have traveled 1500 miles on one of those. I think the 650 is the perfect solution for someone who only wants to own one bike. It is light and nimble enough to be fun off road, and sporty enough to be fun in the twisties while being comfortable enough for touring. I personally don't see any false advertising, only people with false expectations.

It's best to keep your eye on what is failing on this bike already... electrics/ wheel bearings, etc plus all the other upgrades people are doing. It's best to treat it as a light off roader than a full on enduro machine. The warranty is quite tight on after market parts fitted so be warned,

Jedesmal, wenn ich deine Videos sehe, überfällt mich ein Deja Vu Gefühl. Ehrlich mal, du wirkst wie jemand, den sie in den 1970er Jahren eingefroren und im Jahr 2024 wieder aufgetaut haben. Die totale Antithese zur GenZ. Jemand, der furchtlos ist, sich selber zu helfen weiss und tatsächlich alleine klar kommt. Jemand mit eigenem Kopf. Sieht man im 21. Jahrhundert nicht sehr oft. Deine Tour verfolge ich mit großem Spaß. Vielleicht sollte ich miir doch nen Titangelenk in die Hüfte Pflanzen lassen, mich aufs Moped schwingen und nach China fahren. Sieh dich bloß vor, das du nicht einfach weiter fährst und ne Weltumrundung hinlegst... :))
